BURNT ANGLE HOUSE

This new ground-up home was designed as a retirement home for two Michiganders. The goals of the project were to meet Passive House standards, while incorporating some site generated power and a greenhouse and garden, while taking advantage of a narrow view to Lake Michigan and the uniquely sloped and wooded site. 

Careful analysis was undertaken of not only the site conditions, but of the seasonal habits of the owners and their extended family. An at once simple and highly complicated home that looks to the future of the single family housing typology. (photographs by James Shanks)
