The owner of this small condo conversion in washington heights needed to start from scratch. He had lived in this apartment as a rental for several years and decided to purchase the unit when it was being converted to condos. However, the floor structure had been compromised through various plumbing changes through the years, and the bathroom and kitchen at the center of the unit were sinking. Everything had to commit out.

We started from scratch, turning and pulling the bathroom closer to the front door in order to get more space for the kitchen. The bedroom was down-sized (it had been the same size as the living/dining/kitchen) and a home office space was added. The new construction plays off of the old plasterwork and brick of the existing building shell.
